WHO collaborative center

NCDEG was designated as a WHO collaborative center at 1996 With the following terms of reference:

  • To collaborate with WHO on the collection, review & dissemination of information on the prevalence & incidence of diabetes & long term complications in the region.
  • To develop a community-oriented program for diabetes prevention.
  • To collaborate with WHO in the implementation of the medium - term program in developing a model for diabetes care as an integral part of primary health care.

Collaboration with Genetic centers

  • NCDEG is collaborating with the Ministry of Health in Jordan and the World Health Organization to define and implement the strategies for the prevention of genetic and congenital disorders in Jordan.
  • National Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Genetics (NCDEG) is a partner of MedGeNet - Euro Mediterranean Network for Genetic Services, a Coordination Action funded by the INCO Programme of the European Commission in the framework of the 6th FP. Contract n° INCO-CT-2006-031968.
  • NCDEG is involved in research collaborative work with specialised centers in Britain, France and USA on issues related to the molecular disgnosis of rare recessive disorders in Jordan.
(MOH Diabetology Training Program for Doctors)

Guidelines were prepared for primary health care physicians and were applied in four centers and will later be assessed and generalized in the ministry of health centers.

Ministry of Health (MOH) has given us the mandate to:

  • Start and complete registry for type 1 diabetes.
  • To study the possibility of treating all children with type 1 diabetes free and supply them with Insulin syringes and needles and to work for the glucometers and strips for self monitoring free.
  • Continue collaboration with the society for the care of diabetics to start diabetes camps for children and encourage of their parents and or sibs to participate.

Collaboration with other centers:
 
Cooperation with the centers & institutions working in this field with the objective of getting to know all the research , new developments through local, Arab, international conferences & symposiums.
